What guests say about Sindri

Reviews from Sindri’s prior guiding tours, sourced from TripAdvisor.

Phenomenal experience! We chose this tour for the small group size and it exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Sindri, was very knowledgeable and patient. We had plenty of time to explore the caves and Sindri had great tips for taking the best pictures. The ice cave tour ended up being the highlight of our trip. Thank you, Sindri!

We went on a glacier hike with Sindri and visited two ice caves. As a group of seven, we were given our own guided tour. Sindri had lots of exciting things to tell us and adapted to our wishes — whether a second cave or a longer hike on the glacier. Truly breathtaking. We can only recommend this family-run company.

This trip exceeded all expectations and was my family’s absolute favorite part of our trip to Iceland! Sindri was a fantastic guide — he grew up locally and knows the changing glacier extremely well. He gave us a great tour of a stunning blue ice cave and taught us how to capture photos in the low light. Seeing the crevasses up close is something we’ll never forget. Thanks to Sindri for the unforgettable experience.
Family of four, TripAdvisor — Bucket list experience
It was just one of the best experiences I have ever had — and I proposed to my girlfriend in that cave. Could not have wished for a better and more beautiful place to do that. Sindri was awesome and I am more than thankful for what he did for us. Highly appreciated.
A grateful traveler, TripAdvisor — What an experience
Wow. What an experience! My tour was on my birthday and I’ve always wanted to do something like this. Hands down one of the best tours I’ve ever been on. Sindri was the absolute best — he made everyone comfortable and brought us to the best spots. If you’re looking for a real adventure and beautiful scenery, I’d strongly suggest Sindri.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to what travellers usually ask before booking.

How much does private guidance cost?
250,000 ISK per day for the full guiding service. Day trips of 3–4 hours minimum are also available — get in touch and I will quote based on what you have in mind and the season.
Do you offer day trips, or only multi-day tours?
Yes — day trips are available with a minimum of 3–4 hours. Multi-day adventures and the dedicated 3-Day South East Photography Tour are popular too, especially in winter.
What is the best time of year for photography in southeast Iceland?
Winter (Nov–Mar) is the season for natural ice caves, blue glacier faces, fresh snow on Vestrahorn and the northern lights. Summer (Jun–Aug) opens up the rest of Iceland’s nature — green mountains, the midnight sun, puffins, waterfalls and the highlands. Both seasons are excellent — the choice depends on what you most want to photograph.
What happens if the weather is bad on tour day?
Iceland’s weather changes quickly, and safety always comes first. If conditions make the planned tour impossible you get a 100% refund. I also offer alternative options whenever I can — different routes, more sheltered locations or a reschedule — so you still make the most of your time here.
How far in advance should I book?
Bookings can sometimes be made with as little as 3 hours’ notice, but I am very often fully booked — especially during winter ice cave season and around the Vestrahorn / Diamond Beach calendar. The earlier you reach out, the better your chance of getting your preferred dates.
